RSS: The Perfect Solution For Maintaining An Efficient Inbox & Keeping Up With Your Favorite Websites

Today, you can click on almost any website and sign up for free email updates and newsletters.

It’s great!

Free tips and industry updates are delivered straight to your virtual doorstep. Just open your inbox and tadah.

What’s not so great is if your inbox becomes inefficient or unmanageable from an overwhelming number of updates pouring in over time.

I’ve seen it happen.

So, an alternative option is to use an RSS reader. It’s like having your own virtual magazine rack.

RSS isn’t anything new and flashy, but it’s highly effectively and a frequently overlooked tool.

The one I prefer is Google Reader. To start using Google Reader today just visit http://www.google.com/reader and login with your google account or sign up free.

Then, start adding your favorite websites and blogs one of two ways:

1. From the website, click on the RSS button

Like this one on LKR Social Media.

Then, choose Subscribe with Google

and click Add to Google Reader.

2. From inside the Google Reader dashboard

Click on the Subscribe button.

Then type the name of the website, company, blog or url. Find the site you’re looking for in the search results and click subscribe.

Next time you want to do some reading, all of your favorite sites will be organized in one place and your inbox will stay neat and tidy.

Talk to you soon!
